Hi,

My husband and I moved to Malpas in January this year and even though it was freezing cold and the ground thick with snow, we both felt immediately at home. I just love the village centre with its vibrant range of shops and feel a need to pinch myself every morning when I wake up to the magnificent countryside surrounding our home (East Barn, next to Wigland Hall, Wigland, Malpas). Between us we have used almost all the village shops and facilities and I can no longer bring myself to shop at Tescos with such wonderful local produce available on our doorstep. Our dog has enjoyed being pampered at The Dog House and our two grown up daughters have enjoyed the facilities of the local beauty salon. I had a field day at the May farmers market at the village hall and although (thank goodness) non of the family have had a need to visit the Malpas doctors surgery, I was incredibly impressed with the comprehensive welcome pack we received from them.

We have yet to book A Table at Eatons

In reply to Judy Jeffery, it would be the Done family (pronounced with a long "o"), who lived at Manor House, Hampton, Malpas. Mrs Done died recently, but Mr Done still lived in Tilston Road, Malpas

Is there really much point in having a link to the Alport Primary website, when it is so out of date and lacking information?

I am now a pensioner but remember quite clearly spending a holiday in a farm cottage in Malpas some 60 years ago, the highlight of which was helping in Dones (maybe Doanes) Dairy. It was where I first saw a television at the Manor House. Does anyone know anything about this dairy and where exactly it was in Malpas. Being a townee it really stuck in my mind - no electricity, paraffin lamps washing in cold water outside etc.
